What are the Risks from Using PBO Around the Home?

Risk is the likelihood that a hazard will occur.  The risk associated with any chemical is related to both the inherent toxicity of the chemical (the hazard) and the amount and frequency of the chemical to which a person is exposed (the exposure).  The U.S. EPA has conducted formal risk assessments for the user of PBO-containing products as well as for the people in the home after the product has been applied.  Following a comprehensive assessment of a variety of uses of consumer use products in the home, the U.S. EPA concluded that there were no risks of concern (U.S. EPA, 2006).
